A Journey of Growth and Innovation
Founded in 1999, ESTBarreiro began its operations in the historic CUF Workers’ Neighborhood, more specifically in the facilities that belonged to the “Former CUF Elementary School,” which had been renovated at the time to house the school. In 2007, with the opening of new facilities, the institution reinforced its commitment to educational excellence, expanding its academic offerings and improving teaching and research conditions.
The current facilities were designed to support the specific needs of the academic programs offered, particularly the laboratories, which provide ideal conditions for teaching and research activities. The building received an award for 2009 with the International Architecture Award, awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, and was also recognized by the magazine Única, published by the weekly Expresso, as one of the decade’s most notable buildings.
