It had always been part of my plans to do a Master’s degree, as a way of continuing to develop professionally. In a field as competitive as civil engineering, a Master’s degree has become a ‘must-have’! In my case, it made it so much easier to break into the international market.

I started working before I finished my degree. After finishing the course, it was as if my internship were already over. I stayed at the same company.

In response to this growing demand, the Chemical Engineering program at Barreiro School of Technology was launched, and it proved to be an excellent program with a strong practical component—which, for me, has always been a key part of my learning. (…) The curricular internship should be the most important added value of the entire program, as it allows us to apply the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired throughout the bachelor’s degree and also allows the professional world to get to know us.

Since completing my course, I can safely say that my life has changed completely. I have grown both personally and professionally; I left my job at the local council and was fortunate enough to join a company specialising in project and contract management and coordination, which took a chance on me despite the fact that I had only recently completed my degree.
