Director

The Director of ESTBarreiro/IPS (Section II, Articles 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 of the ESTBarreiro/IPS Bylaws) is the School’s representative and governing body, in accordance with the strategic guidelines of the Council of Representatives.

Skills

The Director is responsible for:

To represent ESTBarreiro/IPS before other IPS bodies and externally;
Allocate human and material resources;
Exercise the disciplinary authority delegated to it by the President of the IPS;
Manage ESTBarreiro/IPS’s internal services and approve the necessary regulations;
Carry out day-to-day management tasks;
To appoint and dismiss the Secretary of ESTBarreiro/IPS;
To appoint, upon the Section’s recommendation, and to dismiss the Section Coordinators;
Appoint the Program Coordinators, after consulting with the Technical-Scientific and Pedagogical Councils;
Manage laboratory resources in accordance with the binding opinion of the Technical-Scientific Council;
To approve the teaching assignment schedule for ESTBarreiro/IPS, based on a proposal from the Technical-Scientific Council;
To approve the prescription regulations, after consulting the Technical-Scientific and Pedagogical Councils;
Approve the school calendar and the schedule of academic activities, after consulting with the Technical-Scientific and Pedagogical Councils;
Approve the exam schedule, based on a proposal from the Academic Council;
Implement the decisions of the Technical-Scientific and Pedagogical Councils, when they are binding;
Develop the ESTBarreiro/IPS Activity Plan, which should include an estimate of the budget required for its implementation, in line with the IPS Strategic Plan;
Prepare the ESTBarreiro/IPS Activity Report;
To approve, on its own initiative or at the initiative of the Technical-Scientific Council—but always with the Council’s favorable opinion—the establishment, modification, or dissolution of Sections and Scientific Areas;
Propose to the President of the IPS the maximum numbers for new admissions and enrollments in degree-granting programs, after consulting with the Technical-Scientific Council;
Perform any other duties delegated to it by the President of the IPS, as well as those provided for by law, in the IPS’s bylaws, and in these Bylaws.
