Degree objectives
The objective of this master's degree is to provide the necessary complementary training to 1st cycle graduates in order to be able to achieve the requirements considered appropriate for professional performance in the area of maintenance, conservation and rehabilitation of buildings. It seeks to contribute to increasing the employability of professionals, providing specialized training in order to meet the current needs of the sector, with vocational education and through the incorporation of content related to energy efficiency, structural rehabilitation, urban rehabilitation policies and financing programs, as well as with the development of specific skills in the area of conservation and preventive maintenance.

Learning objectives and skills to be developed
The master's degree in Conservation and Rehabilitation of Buildings aims to provide trainees with specialized skills to carry out maintenance, conservation and rehabilitation of buildings in a correct and sustainable way, taking into account the identity of the space, historical, architectural and design factors, as well as its urban integration in modern living standards and comfort.
This is a training aimed at the development of the country's internal market in the main aspects of Urban Conservation and Rehabilitation and Built Heritage, focused on training in the area of rehabilitation and energy efficiency, structural rehabilitation and seismic vulnerability, techniques and materials for the protection and repair of concrete structures, conservation and maintenance of buildings, techniques for reinforcing old structures and applying BIM technologies applied to the project.
Making a strong commitment to the permanent updating of the curricula of the courses it teaches, ESTBarreiro/IPS proceeded with a restructuring of the Master's Degree in Conservation and Rehabilitation of Buildings that was approved by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) for a maximum period of 6 years. The course, with the new study plan, started operating in the 2019-2020 academic year, with a duration of 1 curricular year (2 semesters) and 1 semester dedicated solely to the dissertation/internship/project -

Admission requirements
The following may apply to the Master's Degree in Conservation and Rehabilitation of Buildings: • Holders of a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Conservation and Restoration, Architecture or related areas; • Holders of an equivalent foreign higher academic degree, conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process; • Holders of an equivalent foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of the bachelor's degree by the Technical-Scientific Council of ESTBarreiro/IPS; • Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized for this cycle of studies by the Technical-Scientific Council of ESTBarreiro/IPS.
