Council of Representatives

The Council of Representatives (Section I, Articles 6, 7, 8, and 9 of the ESTBarreiro/IPS Bylaws) is the body responsible for strategic decision-making and for ensuring compliance with the law, the Bylaws, and, in particular, the mission of ESTBarreiro/IPS.

Skills

The Council of Representatives is responsible for:

Elect its President from among the representatives of faculty and researchers and the co-opted members;
Organize the election process and elect, by secret ballot, the School Director from among the tenured faculty members or researchers at ESTBarreiro/IPS;
Draft its bylaws;
To approve, for ratification, the proposed amendments to the bylaws of ESTBarreiro/IPS;
To review the Director’s actions;
Propose and approve the suspension and removal of the Director, pursuant to Article 13, paragraphs 3 and 4
Draft the regulations governing the election of members of the Council of Representatives, the Technical-Scientific Council, and the Pedagogical Council;
Exercise the other powers provided for by law and in the IPS Bylaws.

The Council of Representatives is also responsible, upon a proposal by the Director, for:

To review and issue an opinion on the ESTBarreiro/IPS Plan and Activity Report and on ESTBarreiro/IPS’s budget execution;
Review and provide an opinion on the Strategic Plan of ESTBarreiro/IPS;
To rule on any other matters brought before it by the Director.
